Developed by Clinvest Researchers, Dennis Reeves, PhD and Kathleen Farmer, PhD
- The MEWT was developed from ANAM*, a battery of tests designed by military scientists to measure how efficiently the brain is working. ANAM has been used to evaluate troops for combat readiness.
- The MEWT is programmed into handheld computers and is designed for at-home monitoring of cognitive status in migraine patients.
The MEWT and ANAM have been used in 7 studies developed by Clinvest Investigators and in cooperation with major pharmaceutical companies and the military to evaluate:
- Prodrome (a warning that a migraine is impending)
- Response to treatment
- Effects of medication on brain efficiency
- The effect of migraine on brain efficiency
- ANAM as a reliable testing method
Farmer et al., 2003 K. Farmer, R. Cady and D. Reeves, The effects of prodrome on cognitive efficiency, Headache (2003), p. 518. a Approximately 500 Clinvest/Headache Care Center participants have been involved in these studies over the past 10 years.
Clinvest continues to develop new uses for these tools.
